Dr. Grigorios Tsinidis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Thessaly, Greece, with a specialization in Computational Geotechnical Engineering – Soil–Structure Interaction, and a member of the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering Division. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering (2007), an MSc in Seismic Design of Technical Works (2008), and a PhD in Civil Engineering (2015), all from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests focus on computational geotechnical engineering and soil–structure interaction, investigated through advanced numerical analyses and experimental studies in both laboratory and field environments. His research also addresses the assessment of the response, vulnerability, and resilience of infrastructure systems subjected to seismic and other natural hazards, with particular emphasis on underground structures and tunnels, as well as bridge foundations. He has participated as a researcher in numerous national and international research projects and has served as Principal Investigator of two research projects. His scientific output includes more than 81 publications in international scientific journals and conference proceedings. He also serves on the Editorial Boards of the international journals Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology (Elsevier) and Geotechnics (MDPI). In addition to his academic and research activities, Dr. Tsinidis has professional experience in engineering consultancy. He has worked for internationally active engineering consulting companies based in Vienna, Austria (FCP Fritsch, Chiari & Partner ZT GmbH and Vienna Consulting Engineers ZT GmbH). His professional experience covers a broad range of engineering projects, including the design of bridge foundations, excavations in densely built urban environments, retaining structures and embankments, seismic design of buildings, and the design of railway infrastructure isolation systems for mitigating noise and vibrations generated by trams, metro systems, and trains.
