George Efremidis is Associate Professor in the Division of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering of the Civil Engineering Department with the subject “Rock Mechanics”. His research interests include: Mechanical behavior of intact rock and rock masses (constitutive laws, gradient theories of elastoplasticity, scale / size effects, discontinuities, microstructure), geostatic stresses, underground constructions in rocks, stability of rock slopes, geological hazards. Mr. Efremidis teaches undergraduate courses: Geology for Engineers, Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, Deep Foundations and Retaining Diaphragms. He also teaches the postgraduate course: Prevention, management and restoration of impacts of natural disasters and climate change on the built environment. He has supervised 22 diploma theses and 9 postgraduate diploma theses. He is an academic coordinator on 2 Erasmus + bilateral agreements with the Politecnico di Torino. He has published 35 articles in scientific journals and conferences.
