Dr. Konstantinos Vogiatzis is a Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering in the scientific object of "Transport Noise in Environmental and Spatial Planning". His research interests include planning, management and protection from urban environmental noise and air pollution from the construction and operation of transport networks with a focus on airborne noise, ground-borne noise and vibrations and fixed track transportation (Metro, Tram & High speed rail networks), air transports and intercity, exurban & suburban road transport systems in combination with their integrated environmental and spatial management. Prof. Dr. Vogiatzis is, among others, a Member of the European Noise Committee - National Representative (Regulatory Noise Committee & Noise Committee Experts) for the preparation of common methods of environmental noise assessment in Europe (Article 6-2 of Directive 2002/49/EK). He is Greece’s National Representative to the CNOSSOS-EU Technical Committee: Member of WG 1: Quality Framework for determining: (a) geographical exposure and risk assessment based on strategic noise mapping; (b) availability of and methods for collecting and checking input data; and (c) accuracy of overall assessment - WG2 Assessment component for Road Traffic Noise & WG 10: Harmonized strategy for assigning noise levels in buildings. He has published more than 300 articles in scientific journals and conferences and he is a Scientific Director and Coordinator in a number of research programs.
